In design of cables, progress requires increasingly higher transmission quality without too many financial constraints. It also can be to maintain a level of quality at lower cost and thus, to make it accessible to a greater number of music lovers. That supposes a severe cost control and consequently judicious choices in the technical development. It is undoubtedly the most difficult art and less improving for the engineer. The HATHOR is a new type of audio cable for which we reconsidered the components in order to optimize the performance/price ratio. Some choices will appear eccentric. Thus, in spite of a very tight financial objective, we decided to preserve a µ-Metal Permalloy shielding against the magnetic low frequency interferences. This µ-Metal shielding is essential to reach a certain quality level to which our Khnoum, Neith or Thot accustomed us. We obviously preserved an integral TEFLON® PTFE insulation. The main economies were realized on the braided copper shielding which the experience lead us not to use as a mass driver but simply as a screen. For this static function it seemed to us that a simple aluminized film would be quite as effective, if not more at a cost without comparison. Thanks to its design the HATHOR became the most economic model in our range of audio interconnects with a µ-Metal Permalloy shielding. Music lovers will appreciate its acoustical qualities, especially when used associated with our MAXITRANS loudspeaker cable. |
