POWERTRANS PLUS is the result of research carried out by Jean-Claude Tornior on how power cables influence the sound of hifi components. These developments also included the role of 'ground' or 'earth' - which has some influence on video signals as well.
We have spent considerable time evaluating in what sense a power cable
exerts its considerable influence on the sound of amplification. |

| The flow of current must be uninhibited and steady. It is the role of the amplifier to make sure that this translates in a clean power delivery resulting in the dynamic rendition of music. Its qualities of frequency transmission, low resistance and memory effect are without consequence, harmful even, for they would favor the transmission of pollution in the signals. Moreover, active conductors are isolated from the circuit by the mains transformer - which after all is its principal role. The only grunge that travels through the cable is due to escaping current between the windings. The ground conductor plays a more insidious role. Originally installed in order to protect the user against possible shocks, different manufacturers use it for purposes ranging from simple surge suppression to an active mass conductor between components via the powerstrip. In the latter case the signals circulating in the conductor are coming predominantly from the same source as the mass conductors from the interconnects, which are in parallel. The POWERTRANS
PLUS is a further iteration on the POWERTRANS. |
